1. What are the main features of a modern waterjet cutting machine?

A modern waterjet cutting system must meet today’s requirements. In addition to the general features of isel technology such as durability, precision and modularity, this also includes the fact that the machine can be quickly incorporated into any workshop or production facility with its minimal requirements and compact and safe design, while at the same time remaining easy to learn and master thanks to the isel training concept.

2. How durable are isel waterjet cutting machines?

The machines are designed for daily operation under industrial conditions. With regular maintenance and the use of generally available and established standard components, a very long service life can be expected. Our very first waterjet machines from isel were built almost 20 years ago and are still in use today.

3. How are waterjet cutting machines installed?

Installation is very simple. The machines need to be aligned on site, they require a power connection, a water and wastewater connection and some compressed air. You will receive the exact values required with the quotation and of course, we will be delighted to help you with the installation.

4. What is the water consumption of an isel waterjet cutting machine?

Our compact waterjet machines only require between approx. 1.5 and 2.3 litres per minute, depending on the application and pump equipment. That is significantly less water than you would even use in the shower!

5. How precise are isel waterjet cutting machines?

The iWS1000 series has a traverse accuracy of -/+0.08 mm and a repeat accuracy of +/-0.04 mm across the entire working range.

6. In which industries are isel waterjet cutting machines used?

Our waterjet cutting systems can be used universally. The principle is that almost any contour can be cut into any material without producing toxic fumes or heat damaging the material structure. Our customers are maintenance and development departments in large industrial companies and smaller craft businesses or educational institutions as well. They produce finished products, semi-finished products or test specimens. The iWS1000 series can be easily incorporated into any machine fleet without any restrictions.

7. What are the origins of waterjet cutting?

Waterjet cutting has been used in industry since the 1970s. At that time, the aircraft industry focused on new heat-sensitive composites and lightweight materials, which could only be suitably machined using the abrasive waterjet cutting process. Since then, the process has gained acceptance everywhere in more and more new areas and today represents a universal solution for all cutting tasks.

8. What is the future for waterjet cutting?

With ever more efficient and demanding material requirements, the demand for material-friendly and environmentally friendly waterjet cutting technology will continue to increase. The development is moving towards ever more productive mass production machines that can be fully automated today and can work at a pressure of over 6000 bar, while the waterjet tool will continue to find its way into smaller production facilities at the same time in the form of a compact universal machine and can become standard equipment in any small workshop.
